Our Mission

When was the last time someone in power asked for your opinion and actually wanted it?

People in power don’t always understand what young people think and need but the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) wants to.

We are looking for a board of change-makers to advise and challenge on its priorities, policies and decision-making.

This is your chance to influence how decisions are made about you, your community and future generations.

The Young Combined Authority (YCA) is a governance opportunity and development programme for those who want their opinions heard and are passionate about making changes for young people in the West Midlands. The board will be built by young people for young people.

Our Impact

We aim to have a vibrant board of 30 young people, making ACTIVE change, influencing the West Midlands!

If you’re outgoing, passionate about change, and are a 16-25 year old living in the west midlands, click the button below to find out how you can get involved in the brand new youth board!

7 METROPOLITAN COUNCILS MAKE UP THE WMCA

The WMCA consists of 7 metropolitan councils (Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton), 10 non-constituent councils and 3 Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs). By working together, we can achieve far more than any council could deliver separately.

Only one person is needed to spark change, and this could be you!

“What is the ‘west midlands combined authority?”

“We are 18 local authorities and four Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) working together to move powers from Whitehall to the West Midlands and its locally elected politicians, who know this region best.”
